It’s a pleasure as always to welcome back a true BBP all-star: Morlack to drop another fresh handful of funky jams on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings. Following up on his successful full-length album Hypersonic Freak from last year – here’s Morlack back in better shape than ever!
The Morlack sound has been perfected – the beats have been sharpened and the bass lines empowered. The Touched It EP is the perfect example of how Morlack takes an obscure funk tune and turns it into his own by adding his signature straight up beats and twisted drunken-style ghetto bass.
The EP kicks off with a tip of the hat to certain MC Hammer who made this Rick James hook famous – now with a big Morlack bass lines on it – yeah he Touched It!. Riding on with the Born 2 Boogie joint, which really showcases the Morlack sound with an undeniable funky groove, twisted ghetto bass and upbeat oldskool rapping. The next couple of tracks takes us on a journey – first to the soft side and then to New York – just riding the funk wave. The EP slows down at the end with the Part 2 of the awesome Who Is He, which was originally release on the Fly to Paris EP in Dec 2014.
Morlack holds his position as the hardest working man in Ghetto Funk and we are BBP are happy to be the platform for the funky output that keeps coming out of the Morlack studio…
“Denmark may not spring to mind when thinking of the late, great Rick James and his breed is glittery funk. However its Danish label Breakbeat Paradise that Go-Go addict Morlack has chosen to release his James-referencing Touched It EP. This one even comes with a special video featuring the James-meister in his spandex-clad prime. In short this EP is packed with five retro boogie edits, highlights of which include the pitch-bent boogie stomp of the title track, the tight digital synth funk of “Take A Ride On The Soft Side” and the quirky groove mania of “Take A NY Trip”.”

Its been 3 years since the release of the last paradise breaks volume – and boy do we have something to show you! At the same time, we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the label, and is there a better way to celebrate that but to release 15 golden tracks as hot as these?
It’s been an action packed couple of years with 26 EPs, 6 album & 7 vinyls being released in this period, which made it very difficult to pick the very best tune to go on this 4th edition of the Paradise Breaks series.
The result is a ghetto rockin’, funky breakin’, oldskool blasting compilation with all-star artists like: Wbbl, BadboE, Roast Beatz, Morlack, Timothy Wisdom, Tom Drummond, DJ Rudd, The Captain and many more. Never before has so many ghetto funk legends been collected on one compilation.
For all of you who are new to the scene, all you have to do is pick up this compilation and you are up to date with what’s been going over for the last 3 years. And for all our beloved fans and followers, whom we are sure will be delighted to have all these classic tunes collected in one place.
This time it’s not all just previous released tunes, as we have a fresh new 2016 version of WBBL’s remix of BadboE’s Ghetto Funkalicious to kick off the compilation. This tune has already been turning a lot of heads in the scene and sets the stage for the other ghetto funk tunes such as, DJ Rudd’s Like Jello, J-Sound’s On and On, Tom Drummond’s Thick Shake, Arteo’s Nobody Else ∫and Kool Hertz’s Whatta Joint remixed by BadboE. For the funk-loving b-boy rockers we got tunes like Timothy Wisdom’s Bad Mother, Morlack’s Chinchilla, Laptop Funkers’ Soul Feel Free, Mako & The Hawk’s Party Going On & Breakbeat Junkie vs DJP’s Represent the Style. Original cuts includes BadboE’s Hit It Mastro remixed by Jpod, ElectroGorilla’s Say My Name and Roast Beatz’ Boombox featuring Dr Syntax. Before ending things with the drum n bass anthm by PhonoMatt & Tommy Boy called 5 O Clock remixed by The Captain.
Another living proof that the funky breaks and ghetto beats is still very much alive – and by now you know where to go to get the very best of it…right here on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings!
“Although the cover of this latest instalment in the Paradise Breaks series echoes the famously trippy sleeves of ’70s prog rockers like Yes, the music couldn’t be more modern. Actually that said, many of the productions on here do plunder the ’70s for inspiration but they choose funk over wizard’s capes and that. Highlights include the mighty “Bad Mother” which combines raw soul divas vocals, wah-wah guitars and thumping break beats, J-Sounds’ tight and groovy break-funk jam “On And On” and the super catchy shuffle-pop gem “Nobody Else” by Arteo. A totally mixed bag and all the better for it.”

We’re happy to announce that Morlack has returned once again to Breakbeat Paradise Recordings to drop his long awaited full-length album. The Hypersonic Freak project first landed at out desk a year ago, and the tracks have been selected and perfected ever since. The result is an inferno of beats, breaks & bass and freaky funky grooves, spread across 12 golden tracks dedicated to the dancefloors.
Morlack has been somewhat of a household name on BBP with over 6 digital EPs, 1 vinyl release and a remix album, so to dedicate the full-length album to the booming funk sounds of Morlack was the only natural thing for us to do.
The Hypersonic Freaks album takes us on a journey all the way from 80’s hip hop to 90’s RnB vocals into the present, all mixed with Morlack’s beats and bass and the freaky funky sounds of the 70’s psychedelic funk era. The album even leaves room for some quirky samples on tracks like Gimme Some Love and uptempo progressive grooves like on the Moment of Bang as well as classic Molack bangers such as the title tune: Hypersonic Freak.
In other words this album makes it really easy to be a DJ – just slam on any of these cuts and the party will be going in full effect. Freak funky good vibes from start to finish…
Morlack has some more big projects in the making that we unfortunately cannot revile yet, but we surely look forward to hearing what comes next from this funky beast of a producer.
Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is keeping the funk alive as always…
