Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is back to mark the 10th year of being in the ghetto rockin; funky breaks business. To celebrate that we’ve decided to hit you hard with a 7-track vinyl release to represent the very best of what the label has to offer. 7 of the very best producers in the funky breaks scene have joined forces on this ruthless funky bomb of an EP! After selling out all vinyl and getting support from major djs including features on the Craig Charles Funk and Soul show this release is available on digital format.
With the Badass Funk EP the BBP All-Star team is taking it back to the timeless sound of the oldskool that the label has kept on rockin’ since they first started in 2006. Since then the label has navigated through related genres like Nu Funk and Ghetto Funk without loosing track of the base core. Every since the first release: Sound of Invasion by BadboE the label has kept a strong grip on the funk, the breaks and the street vibes of the oldskool.
To kick things off we brought back 2 of the very best producers in the game The Breakbeat Junkie & DJP, who’s been responsible of some of the classic BBP tunes like Freak Hop Part 3 and Represent The Style. Here they are back in better shape than ever to do their thing on the Go Off jam.
To follow things up we call for a true ghetto funk phenomenon: DJ B-Side, who just started to drop party bombs for us last year. But B-Side has been a household name in the ghetto funk scene for years and has released several legendary EPs for the Ghetto Funk label.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any funkier we brought in DJ Maars from down under to tease us with the skanky funk jam: Work That Funk.
It wouldn’t be much of a BBP anniversary release without a tune from label owner and funk breaks veteran: BadboE. All striped down to the core BadboE’s cooked up a funked up jam that oozes oldskool funk from start to finish.
Moving on with more skillful mashup business from one of the scene’s favorite DJ and producer: Roast Beatz. This is the first release from Roast Beatz on BBP since his epic album release: Luxury Boom Bap that dropped last year.
The Boom Bap continues on the track from BBP residents Mako & Mr Bristow, who team up for some more of their addictive throwback funk business.
Last but certainly not least a true expect of the oldskool: Morongroover is ending things big with his Good ‘ol Days joint.
Time goes by but it has become evident that the funk stays – and BBP is right here to make sure it will. Stay tuned for another 10 years of funk, beats and breaks…

- Mined & Forrest – There It Is (Original Mix)
- Mined & Forrest – Funk Toxic
- Mined & Forrest feat. Joker – Drugs
- Mined & Forrest – There It Is (Jayl Funk Remix)
Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is back to drop another debut EP from the German producer duo Mined & Forrest consisting of Forrest Funk & Mined from Obba Select. They are both well-established names on their own with a large group of followers – known for their edits, mashups and funky DJ sets.
Inspired by classic funk, modern bass design and hiphop sampling they teamed up to bring their musical ideas together. Spending lots of time in the studio turning knobs and hitting keys, they now have a bunch of funky tunes ready to hit the dancefloors out there.
The EP kicks off with the groovy and catching title tune There It Is, which perfectly showcases their take on the ghetto funk sound. A steady beat with some clever hip hop samples and a great deal of musicality including a big middle passage of beautiful atmospheric sounds.
On the next cut the duo takes us a little further back to the oldskool on the Funk Toxic banger. Toxic funky bass on a boom bap beat mixed with their chopped up hip hop vocal samples.
Things are about to get serious on the 3rd jam on the EP which features Joker on the bass heavy Drugs tune. Heavy beats and big basslines is in center on this bad boy jam.
The title tune There It Is is finally getting the upmost funky party treatment from BBP’s very own Jayl Funk on the last track on the EP. A steady block rocking beat and twist up on the vocals is all it takes for Jayl Funk to make this his very own as he brings this EP home.

- Morongroover – I Like It Like That
- Morongroover & Mr Bristow – Front To The Back
- Morongroover – Wizard of Oz
- Morongroover & Mr Bristow – Where You At
Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is back at your service, for all the funky disco lovers out there. Two BBP all-stars: Morongroover and Mr Bristow have joined forces on this project, which they have chosen to call: Ghetto Disco.
Basically it encapsulates 70s disco funk influences with a healthy dose of Moog bass, and merges it with classic MC hooks and scratches. This compilation gives you the style of music Morongroover & Mr Bristow have been pushing for the last six months and matches perfectly with the recent disco vibes that have been going on at the BBP camp.
The first tune from the producer team can be found on the recently released Disco Paradise, where Morongroover & Mr Bristow teamed up on the ‘Jump to It’ jam. Fast forward a few months and here we are will a full 4-track EP of the same kinda’ groovy stuff that makes up the Ghetto Disco sound.
The EP kicks off with a big groovy disco hook and some classic hip-hop vocals on a steady 4-to-the-floor disco beat on the I Like It Like That jam. Following that, Mr Bristow is brought in to put his expertise to work on the Front to The Back jam that adds some additional details to the mix in the form of bongos, shakers and heavy open hi-hats.
On the flipside we have another solo Morongroover joint, which perfects the Ghetto Disco concept with catchy bass lines and classic MC-ing on the Wizard of Oz. This jam will be sure to get activity on the dance floors, and has already been getting support by DJs including BadboE, who included it on his latest mixtape.
Last but certainly not least, the producer duo is back together for another slice of Ghetto Disco on the Where You At jam. The big moog bass, funky stabs and scratch hooks are all lined up for this EP to end at the top.
Stay tuned as more Ghetto Disco will be coming soon here on BBP…
“Moron and The Mister: a London b2b Bristol connection with more stripes than a tracksuit convention. Morongroove takes the lead with a block party busting disco strutter with vocals from the heart of the b-boy nucleus before Bristow joins the fray for a bass-slapping p-funk slapper. Deeper again Moron slinks so low to reveal a party under the stairs. And the party don’t stop until the last scratch and synth squiggle of the premium bass-slapping, key-sprinkling “Where You At” echo out. Vibey.”

“Gents – time to get your three-piece flared-leg suits on; ladies time to hit the wardrobe for a jersey wrap because Morongroover and Mr Bristow are shortly to go large with their Ghetto Disco EP on Breakbeat Paradise! The pair set out with the intention of funking you up till you boogie down and with opener I Like It Like That it’s Soul Train Disco Night manoeuvres from the off. Then, having got you making like a fly gangster glitterball boss, the pace picks up for Front To The Back‘s outright pumping nu-disco menace complete with scratch flourishes – a vibe that also defines pneumatic closer Where You At. This release though is all about The Wizard Of Ozwhich will have them trippin’ at the disco. Why? Because it blends People Under The Stairs’ The Wiz with the sound of Studio 54 in a manner not completely alien to P.U.T.S. themselves. And I can’t imagine anyone grumbling about that.
(Out 25 August on Juno/ 31 August globally on Breakbeat Paradise)”

Juno Download Review: “As you can imagine, Breakbeat Paradise Recordings specializes in the sort of house music that’s carried by chunky blockade of beats and bass, all rounded off by a distinctive electro swing. This is the second chapter of the Big Fat Mama Beats series and, once again, the imprint have gone to extreme measures to secure a supremely effective line-up for both them and us. There’s not a dull moment in here, or anything remotely beatless, so be sure to cop yourself this super-charged, super floor-minded collection of new-school breaks for the masses”

A1. Olly’s Heartbeat
A2. Who’s Serious
B1. The Party Riddim
B2. Would You?!
Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is back with another big vinyl release from the amazing producer due Lack Jemmon, which consists of DJ Clairvo and Kid Panel, who are both well-established producers, DJs and label owners on their own. Together they are an explosive cocktailed of big funky grooves, filthy glitcy basslines and banging beats!
Lack Jemmon has been around for a couple of years and quickly signed up with the successful ghetto funk label Scour Records where they have dropped a few tunes and remixes. When the boys reached out to us and said they had 4 bangers they wanted to drop on vinyl we didn’t hesitate to say Hell Yeah!
The self-titled EP showcases their style of heavy breaks and funky basslines perfectly across the 4 bangers that are tried and tested for complete dancefloor destruction.
A1. The EP kicks off with a big remix on the catchy Olly’s Heartbeat, which has been infused with some heavy duty basslines and some rocking electronic funk beats. Pure fire!
A2. The party continues on the second cut where the boys are really getting serious on another catchy riff and some party rhymes to go with the steady beats and glichy basslines. Let’s not forget the beautiful hook from the original 90s dance anthem to complete this perfect joint – Who’s Serious!
B1. Just as we though this couldn’t get any better Lack Jemmon cooked up another banger for the b-side called The Party Riddim. As the name suggest it harvests some big reggae grooves and vocals mixed with some party rocking beats.
B2. To showcase a different side to the duo Would You?! is a funky house arrangement with some smooth disco grooves and a party rocking rap acapella. A perfect way to end this double A-sided wax of bangers!
You can always count on BBP for your doze of party rocking beats – and for keeping the vinyl alive…
